A review of the history of Education & Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged in Jamnagar district reveals that the Government of Gujarat had established the School for the Blind in outskirts of Jamnagar city in 1963.
However, this educational setup could not last long for one or the other reason. The situation so created, led to an opportunity for the establishment of non-government organization in the region for the welfare of the people with visual impairment.
Few blind pioneers met in Jamnagar and deliberated on the Education & Vocational Training for the Blind. After a series of meetings, they decided to establish an institution which can enable the blind by providing opportunities so that they can become the contributing members of our society.
Thus, Andhjan Vividhlaxi Talim Kendra came into existence on 9th February 1969 in Jamnagar. To start with, the institution commenced functioning in a rented building with the enrolment of 3 blind students. The whole setup of the institution was shifted to the present campus spread over an area of a hector in 1973.
We request you to visit our website which will give you a brief account of activities being undertaken by this institution in the field of disability.
